Ventspils Beach, Latvia has held the Blue Flag award since 1998.0, reflecting a long-term commitment to the programme's 33 annual criteria — covering bathing water quality, environmental management, safety and services, and environmental education. The beach is managed by Ventspils.
On-site facilities include a beach kiosk, trained lifeguard supervision during the season, and accessible facilities for visitors with disabilities. Entry to Ventspils Beach, Latvia is free of charge.
In order to control the quality of the swimming water, analyses are performed throughout the entire season. Beach waters of Ventspils are awarded with the highest quality rating. A flat entrance from the shore leads into the swimming area, gradually deepening. Two Sandbanks with decreased water depth are located within the allowed swimming distance, marked by buoys, where the maximum water depth reaches about 2 meters.
