Following are the five beaches that were granted the international?Blue Flag standard this year: Mei-Ami, One of the oldest beaches in Ashdod, located at the northern part of the shore, south of the point at which the Lakhish Stream meets the Mediterranean Sea and near the point at which the boardwalk, currently under construction, begins. The beach nostalgically overlooks the city's origins, bringing back memories of its first days. Nearby is the La Mamounia Palace, an impressive commercial center presenting Moroccan style and Maghreb architecture. The shore is lined with an expansive lawn, decorated with various sculptures and just a short walking distance away from a selection of restaurants and coffee shops. Plenty of parking is available and free of charge. The beach also provides optimal beach services, including a rescue station equipped with a jet ski, first aid, restrooms, showers and dressing rooms, water taps, playgrounds for children, fitness equipment, shaded shelters and benches, handicapped access and handicapped parking.
